Photo Retouch Tips | Animate Waterfall Photo
Give new life to a static photo by animating it with the Timeline feature and learn some basic Photoshop techniques in the process Steps: 1. Import and open your photo in Photoshop 2. Unlock the background layer (or make a copy of it) 3. Take your time to create a good selection of what you want to animate (I also feathered the waterfall selection a little to make the animation look smoother later) 4. Make a new layer from the selection CMD+J/CTRL+J 5. Convert the layer to a smart object 6. Duplicate the layer 7. Make a clipping layer mask by placing your mouse between the two layers and ALT clicking (you will see the pointer change to include a small downward arrow) 8. If the timeline is not visible, go to Windows -> Timeline and activate it 9. Click on Create Video Timeline

Get creative, pick one of your photos and try switching up the color of your clothes... learn some basic Photoshop techniques in the process Steps: 1. Import and open your photo in Photoshop 2. Take your time to create a good selection of what you want to change (for this photo I used "select subject" and then refined the selection further with "Select Color Range" 3. While your selection is active, create a new hue/saturation adjustment layer 4. Select "colorize" and play with the hue, saturation and lightness sliders until you get a look that you like Which one of the 4 changed looks did you like best? 1, 2, 3 or 4? Get creative, use your phone and take a close up photo of some foliage, then use it to make a design with a title partially hidden below... learn some basic Photoshop techniques in the process Steps: 1. Take photo with phone and import to your computer 2. Open in Photoshop 3. Adjust image to get desired look (I used curve adjustment, hue saturation and warming photo filter layers) 4. Use the text tool to create a title, adjust size and position. Choose a color with enough contrast against the background 5. Add a mask to the title layer 6. Click on the mask 7. Use the brush tool and paint black where you would like the text to disappear (or foliage to appear) 8. 1. Start by drawing a box as a background for the knockout title and subheading 2. Use the eyedropper to pick a fill and stroke color 3. Round the edges of the box 4. Rename the layer for easier reference 5. Drop box layer opacity to 85% 6. Use the text tool to write your heading - make it big! Color does not matter here 7. Place text over box and align in a way you like 8. Duplicate text layer 9. Rename to “outline” for easier reference 10. Select all text and box layers 11. Group layers 12. Double click on text layer 13. Change advanced blending options: Knockout - shallow | Fill opacity - 0% 14. Hide / unhide the outline layer so you can check the knockout effect has been properly applied 15. Convert outline layer to shape 16.Leave layer selected 17. Select shape tool
