Even the large stone stairs seem to spill from an upper lawn to a lower one, as water would spill between ponds, in this scene from the upper, walking garden in this otherwise small suburban backyard east of Seattle. Imagine the boulders as pondside platforms and the Japanese Bloodgrass as cattails in this Zen-like interpretation of a traditional Japanese rock garden. Design by Sander Groves landscapes, Inc.
LOVE LOVE this back porch/steps/patio. love the materials and shape of the steps (maybe limestone? could my father-in-law do this? i think so...) love the arbor, love the brick patio. would want french doors instead of a slider.
