Germany's Bread Culture and the huge selection of bread is partly down to Germany's varied climate, which allows all types of crops to thrive, together with the country's history. Baking different bread was one of the ways the small princedoms that formerly made up Germany carved out an own identity. I visited Königssee some weeks ago. I was very impressed when the boat stopped at a certain point on the lake and the driver took out his trumpet to show us the echo at this point on the lake. Everyone on the boat was quietly listening to him play a tune and then it would echo back shortly after from the walls of the high rising flanks of the mountains. Absolutely beautiful! This is a dream place. St. Bartholoma - Lake Konigssee, Germany Explore 13.02.2012

This oil painting, created by artist Chris Buzelli in 2011 and entitled And the Children Shall Inherit the Earth, depicts the one and only mythically terrifying Krampus doing what it does best, making the lives of children miserable. If Santa Claus is a good cop, making sure good children receive presents and bad ones lumps of coal, then the Krampus is Santa’s bad cop counterpart. In Alpine regions of Europe, children are taught that the Krampus travels with St. Nicholas during the Christ

Krampus! German Christmas has a devil, connected to 'were you good or bad' -- I wasn't aware of that. Thanks Pinterest. Ha!
Krampus is the dark companion of St. Nicholas, the traditional European winter gift-bringer who rewards good children each year on December 6. The kindly old Saint leaves the task of punishing bad children to a hell-bound counterpart, the Horned Devil, also known as Krampus.
Czech Santa and his companion who handles the naughty children. 1651AD The State of Massachusetts, settled by English Puritans, banned all observation of Christmas. 1664AD New Amsterdam was fought over and won by the British, who named it New York. They first banned St. Nicholas, and his statue fell. But later came to accept the pleasures of the festival of the saint, not associating it with Christmas, it being held on December 6th.
In Czechoslovakia, Saint Nicholas walks along the streets of cities and towns, accompanied by the Angel of Good and the Devil, representing evil. Dressed in costume, they stop children and ask them if they were good during the year. Children usually say yes and are given treats by the Angel. Schloss Neuschwanstein or "New Swan Stone Castle" is not only one of the most famous places in Germany but also among the most beautiful castles in the world. The Castle really looks like a fairy- tale castle with a lovely inner garden surrounded by a walled courtyard. The interior is also as beautiful as its outside. The castle is located in Bavaria, not very far from the town of Fussen.
