Handy Shelf - The kitchen windowsill is a great place to set plants and a few favorite pieces of pottery, but the sill usually isn't very deep, and the items are in the way if you want to open the window. This homeowner came up with the great idea of mounting a shelf right on the molding around the window. Now there's a deeper shelf to display items, but the window can still be opened.

Love the shelf in front of the window, also love the vintage window hanging down. (Would be pretty with a small stained glass window hanging in front where the clear one is here).

An easy trick to incorporate what looks like layered skirtings is to leave gaps between moulding and trim and paint these areas in the same colour.

Could use this to make beadboard work with a small baseboard. Make your baseboard more dramatic.add small pieces of trim to the top of existing baseboard, add a few inches and add another piece of moulding. Paint the wall and trim white.
