Women In The Gym, Tip #7: Eat More Protein. Eating more protein is the single most important change you can make to your diet. Aim for at least 30g protein with every meal, including breakfast. The absolute best source of protein is a whey protein shake straight after exercising, but most women seem to regard shakes as just for men. Whey protein is ridiculously healthy and can directly help with fat loss just by adding it to your diet.

Women In The Gym, Tip #5: Check Your Tempo. Many people rush through exercises and end up training in a way that they didn't really intend. The faster you perform an exercise, the more likely you are to be training strength or power, rather than training for muscle development and fat loss. If you want to maximise fat loss (most of us!), then slow down the 'eccentric' motion, which is the part where you resist the weight and allow your muscles to extend.

Women In The Gym, Tip #4: Train With Free Weights. Training with free weights (barbells and dumbbells) is nearly always preferable to using a machine. The machines usually lock you into a single range of motion, and are often targeted at a small group of muscles, or even a single muscle.

Women In The Gym, Tip #1: Ditch The Cardio. Still spending hours on the cross trainer each week? If you want to lose weight and tone up then you are doing the WRONG exercise. So what should you be doing? When you are in the gym, choose exercises that either help you to Get Fit or Get Strong. Steady-state cardio achieves neither.

How NOT To Lose Gym Friends: Tip #1: Wipe Up After Yourself There are few things more disgusting in the gym than someone else's sweat patch left on equipment. If you are sweating like a politician on Judgement Day, then be aware that everything you touch is also going to be damp. Take a towel to the gym with you and either lie on it, or wipe up after you finish.

How To Stop Emotional Eating: Tip #6: Find Satisfying Replacements Once you figure out why food makes you feel better, you can come up with alternative behaviours that can help you cope instead of emotional eating.
