The Seventh Veil (1945)
Another inspiration for David was James Mason's performance as Nicholas Cunningham in The Seventh Veil (1945). If you haven't seen it, you should. Mason is fascinating as the wealthy, controlling, frequently cruel, emotionally scarred guardian to his distant cousin, a vulnerable young concert pianist.
