The World According to Garp (1982) -- Robin Williams, Mary Beth Hurt, Glenn Close, John Lithgow, Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy, Swoosie Kurtz -- Based on the John Irving novel, this film chronicles the life of T S Garp, and his mother, Jenny. Whilst Garp sees himself as a "serious" writer, Jenny writes a feminist manifesto at an opportune time, and finds herself as a magnet for all manner of distressed women. - Written by Tony Bowden <firstname.lastname@example.org>
#RobinWilliams would have been fun to be around. One of my favorite films was The World According to Garp. Loved him on talk shows and performing stand-up when his true uninhibited cosmic brilliance would shine. His mind moved so quickly he could process and act out more thoughts in a few minutes than most could in a lifetime. #CharlieRose #CraigFerguson
Favorite book. Favorite movie. The World According to Garp with Robin Williams

Colleen McCullough - The Thorn Birds .... ALL TIME FAVORITE!!
The Thorn Birds - Colleen McCullough. I finally read the book nearly 30 years after I saw the mini series. Both were truly wonderful.
I've read The Thorn Birds too many times to count, the first time when I was in high school. And I still have my original copy!
The Thorn Birds - still one of my favorite books. I first read it when I was in junior high, and I thought it was so racy! watch this movie free here: http://realfreestreaming.com

This is how I feel when I fall in love with book characters.
Any book that literally hugs you is probably a book worth reading, so long as it is a friendly and mutually desired hug and not some sort of nightmarish "I'M BEING HUGGED BY A BOOK" situation.

DuMaurier's book seems at points way too long and unengaging but Hitchcock does a great job of building suspense and taking the best out of the story without slaughtering the original. There's a single major difference between the film and the book: Rebecca's murder is turned into an accident in the film. Did Hitchcock not have the heart of showing Laurence Olivier as a cold-blooded murderer or did he think the public/fans might not take it well? in any case an interesting decision...
Rebecca, 1940. Mom's favorite movie! One of many HItchcock films that we would sit at the edges of our seats for, every time.

March 12, 1957: One of the most beloved children's books,“The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel), is published. It was written in response to an article that called existing kid's books boring. A publisher approached Geisel with an offer: Write a children's primer using a list of 250 vocabulary words that would also hold a kid's interest. Less than a year later the book was finished. “It is fun to have fun, But you have to know how.” (This Week in History ~JB pop-Eggs)

"You is kind, You is smart, You is important" FAVORITE MOVIE LINE OF ALL TIME! Movie: The Help (2011) starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis, and Octavia Spencer
"The Help" (2011) An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work for. Honestly I almost didn't watch this film because I thought it was gonna be another typical racist movie where all white people are evil etc etc. (Let it Go already !) Honestly I was pleasantly surprised with this film and I absolutely LOVED it ! Great movie !!
Book worth reading and movie worth seeing! Let our boys watch it too as a lesson in civil rights history
The Help (2011). Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain. There were a few things that deviated from the book, but this was still a great movie.
Emily Brontë’s only novel, Wuthering Heights remains one of literature’s most disturbing explorations into the dark side of romantic passion. Heathcliff and Cathy believe they’re destined to love each other forever, but when cruelty and snobbery separate them, their untamed emotions literally consume them.
