Thinkmarks - Love this! So simple but such an important comprehension activity to do during reading!

A chart called Thinkmarks that can be posted at the front of the class room and copied into an Interactive Notebooks. I'm thinking these Thinkmarks could help encourage the Close Reading skills that Common Core seems to think is new.

Blurt Chart...used as positive reinforcement. Each time a student blurts (should be defined by classroom community common definitions expected behaviors), a sticky note is removed. Whoever has all three sticky notes at the end of the school day receives a reinforcer or entered into a classroom contest. Can also be used for classroom goal setting, teaching mindfulness building self-control.

It's called a "Blurt Chart". If students blurt out they take a happy face off the chart (they are velcroed on). They have 3 chances throughout the day. You can take minutes away from recess, etc. for each happy face taken off the chart.
