Joan Crawford was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1905. By the late 1920’s Crawford was a big movie star and the highest paid women in the United States. She was the epitome of the word "movie star", and possessed a genuine glamour that allowed her star to shine for over 50 years. An unflattering book, written by her adopted daughter, tainted her personal image. Regardless of this, she was a great actress and personality who deserves continued recognition. She died on May 10, 1977.
