***THIS IS THE TRAILHEAD TO REACH AWESOME SPOTS SUCH AS HAVASU FALLS, MOONEY FALLS, AND THE HAVASUPAI VILLAGE. PLEASE ADD THIS TO YOUR TRIP WHEN PLANNING A VISIT TO THOSE PLACES, AS THOSE PLACES WILL NOT ROUTE YOUR TRIP PROPERLY DUE TO THEIR REMOTE LOCATION.*** Havasu Canyon is open to visitors effective May 1, 2011. Please be aware that Havasu Canyon is a fragile environment and is subject to flash floods. Some areas in the canyon are OFF-LIMITS to visitors due to continuing repair work or unstable ground condition. Immediate closure of the canyon is possible at any given time during your visit. Visitors to Havasu Canyon assume all risks while in the canyon and should come prepared. Supai village, located within Havasu Canyon, a large tributary on the south side of the Colorado River, is not accessible by road. The Havasupai Tribe administers the land, which lies outside the boundary and jurisdiction of Grand Canyon National Park. Havasupai means people of the blue-green waters. The spectacular waterfalls and isolated community within the Havasupai Indian Reservation attract thousands of visitors each year. The Havasupai are intimately connected to the water and the land. This blue- green water is sacred to the Havasupai. It flows not only across the land, but also through each tribal member. When you enter their land, you enter their home, their place of origin. Supai village, located within Havasu Canyon, a large tributary on the south side of the Colorado River, is not accessible by road. The Havasupai Tribe administers the land, which lies outside the boundary and jurisdiction of Grand Canyon National Park. The trail to Supai begins at Hualapai Hilltop, 191 miles/308 km from Grand Canyon Village or 66 miles/106 km from Peach Springs, Arizona. Peach Springs has the nearest services – gas, food, and water. No services are available at Hualapai Hilltop. Approximate driving time from Grand Canyon Village (S. Rim) is four hours. Drive west from Williams on I-40 to Seligman; turn off on U.S. 66. Watch for Indian Highway 18.

#HavasuFalls swimming hole, #Arizona - 11 mile hike to the swim - near #GrandCanyon National Park.
On My Bucket List :) On the Havasupai Indian Reservation within Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona you will find the gorgeous Havasu Falls. The picture perfect falls features a blue-green pool below which is excellent for swimming. Havasu Falls is fairly difficult to reach by foot, requiring a drive to Hualapai Hilltop and then a 16 km (10 mile) hike to the Falls via the tiny village of Supai which is 3 km (2 miles) from the falls. For those not up to the long hike, a helicopter ride to Supai can be had, followed up by a horseback ride to the falls. Visitors can camp near the falls, and the village of Supai has one lodge and one cafe. Otherwise the best options for accommodation can be found 177 km (110 miles) away in the town of Seligman. The area also features four other waterfalls: Navajo Falls, Supai Falls, Mooney Falls, and Beaver Falls.
