"Researchers, who have carried out a four-year review of the literature, say the evidence of damage [from neonicotinoid pesticides] is now 'conclusive'. The scientists say the threat to nature is the same as that once posed by the notorious chemical DDT." www.bbc.com/... GMO seeds are often coated with neonicotinoids.

The Oberlin Project, which launched in the summer of 2009, is revitalizing the local economy of Oberlin in Northwestern Ohio. The project is eliminating carbon emissions; restoring local agriculture, food supply and forestry; and creating a new, sustainable base for economic and community development.

3M is associated with clearcuts: “3M's approach to forestry is irresponsible, extremely destructive, and completely out of line with what today’s consumers expect,” said Jim Ace of ForestEthics. “Post-it notes with no recycled content, sandpaper that comes from endangered caribou habitat, and sponges that are linked to human rights violations have no place on the shelves of the 21st century. 3M has put its brand at risk by sourcing paper from controversial sources."

Between GMO high-fructose corn syrup, and GMO sugar beets, and aspartame made from GMO bacteria; most processed sugary junk food in the U.S. these days is ridden with GMOs. Interesting how added sugars in processed foods are being linked to so many health problems these days, isn't it?

Think global warming is a left wing hoax? Apple would like you to kindly f&%# off. In an annual stockholders meeting last Friday, Apple CEO Tim Cook blew his stack when a member of the National Center for Public Policy Research requested that the company stop worrying about global warming since it's not profitable. Cook continued, "We do a lot of things for reasons besides profit motive. We want to leave the world better than we found it."

Before trees were used to make paper, hemp was the number one source for paper-making. People laughed at the idea that paper could be made from trees! Hemp can be pulped using less chemicals than wood. Its natural brightness means no need to use chlorine bleach, which means no toxic dioxin dumped into streams. Hemp can yield 3-8 dry tons of fiber per acre, 4x what an average forest can yield.

"The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also described as the Pacific Trash Vortex, is a gyre of marine litter in the central North Pacific Ocean located roughly between 135°W to 155°W and 35°N and 42°N.[1] The patch extends over an indeterminate area, with estimates ranging very widely depending on the degree of plastic concentration used to define the affected area." "I'm often asked whether I believe in global warming. I now just reply with the question: Do you believe in gravity?" ~ Neil deGrasse Tyson [follow this link to find a short clip and analysis of a new geological epic known as the anthropocene, a period marked by the human impact on the Earth's systems: www.thesociologic...]
