Natural Weed Killer :1 gallon vinegar, 1/2 cup salt, dash of dish washing detergent (makes it stick to the weeds). Mix well, spray on weeds in the morning, rejoice in their death that evening. This works best on a sunny day.

Dog/kid Pond - Place a plastic kiddie pool in the ground. It'd be easy to clean and looks nicer than having it above ground. Big dogs can't chew it up or drag it around. Great for little kids

If you are thinking of updating your garden, consider using landscaping bushes and shrubs. Flowers and tree blossoms and leaves fade quickly, but landscaping shrubs and bushes offer year-round beauty and are easy to maintain. You won't be forsaking aesthetics either as shrubs come in a variety of colours and textures, some flower and even provide beautiful berries in the dead of winter.

Put the newspaper over the dirt 3-4 pages thick and then covered it with mulch. The newspaper will prevent any grass and weed seeds from germinating, but unlike fabric, it will decompose after about 18 months. By that time, any grass and weed seeds that were present in the soil on planting will be dead. It’s green, it’s cheaper than fabric, and when you decide to remove or redesign the bed later on, you will not have the headache you would with fabric.
