Just finished for my book club...HILARIOUS!!! A must quick read for anyone that appreciates her humor on the Office
It's cool now for funny celebs to write funny books, but I'm cool with that. Wanna read. (GOT IT. READ IT.)
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) - Mindy Kaling. It turns out she wrote some of my favourite episodes of The Office. Like the one where Michael steps on a Foreman Grill and Dwight gets a concussion. So funny!
I want - "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and Other Concerns)" The Office extraordinaire Mindy Kaling’s new book is part advice column, part hilarious anecdotes. With chapters like “Don’t Peak in High School” and “Nontraumatic Things That Have Made Me Cry,” it’s at the top of editorial intern Caroline Hallemann’s wish list. “I’m looking forward to a healthy dose of Kelly Kapoor postholiday.” Available at amazon.com, $16.
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? - A light read. Funny book by that chick from The Office.

Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books. If you are as much of a hopeless romantic as I am, you will love curling up with this book and reading it over and over again. Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath: Mimi Alford, a 19-year-old White House intern when Kennedy wooed her into an affair that lasted 18 months. She was a virgin, she said, when they first made love on Jackie's bed; later the two would race rubber duckies in the presidential bath tub. "I do not regret what I did. I was young and I was swept away, and I cannot change that fact," said the future Mimi Alford in her 2012 memoir.
In the summer of 1962, nineteen-year-old Mimi Beardsley arrived by train in Washington, D.C., to begin an internship in the White House press office. The Kennedy Administration had reinvigorated the capital and the country—and Mimi was eager to contribute. On my "To Read" list... Another pinner said: "Little known fact from our history... 1,000 "white women" traded for peace with native Americans... amazing story. Couldn't put it down.--sounds good."
One Thousand White Women is the story of May Dodd and a colorful assembly of pioneer women who, under the auspices of the U.S. government, travel to the western prairies in 1875 to intermarry among the Cheyenne Indians. One of my favorite books. Our book club read it and we still talk about how good it is.
One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd by Jim Fergus - historical fiction, the account of several "civilized" woman married to Cheyenne Indians (Chief Little Wolf) as part of a government program (General Grant) in the mid-800s in Nebraska territory. interesting, quick read - believable, draws you in, you won't want to put it down.
April - One Thousand White Women- 3/12 - OK I found this very interesting and enjoyed it until the last chapter. That is 2 book club books in a row that were downers at the end :
The story of Mary Dodd who travels west in 1875 to marry a Cheyenne Indian. A good historical fiction book!
Historical fiction about a woman who chooses to live with the Native Americans (1875) in order to find her personal freedom.
Wow, it just feels like a true story and what an emotional, completely unique, enthralling one at that. White women who are escaping all manner of lives go become "the wives" in a Native American tribe in order to meld white and "Indian" races together in early-ish America. Really great historical fiction. And I love novels written in journal or letter-form!
