Pigeon Point Light Station or Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a lighthouse built in 1871 to guide ships on the Pacific coast of California. It is the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States. All lighthouses have a history.
An original oil painting of the Danger Point Lighthouse in Gansbaai, Southern Coast of Cape Town. This lighthouse is situated close to where the HMS Birkenhead was shipwrecked in 1853. More than 400 people died. Since then, more than seven other ships were lost in this dangerous area, before the lighthouse was built in 1895. It is believed that the remains of at least seven sunken ships can still be found on the rocks at the foot of the Danger Point lighthouse.
