Aesthetically Thinking: Ma. Michael and Alexandra Misczynski understand completely and viscerally what the Japanese call "Ma". The unseen energy surrounding objects, or rather the intrinsic importance of having open space in a house, as it is the void that is after all the beginning of everything.

WABI SABI Scandinavia - Design, Art and DIY. Muted pastels, much like the ones that were in fashion during the 18 century (see below), are really hot now. I've always seen these pale shades as a thing for bridesmaid's dresses. But now, soft pastels are everywhere. Here a few examples from the pink-peach-pale orange pastel range. Any favourites?

What is 侘寂 wabi sabi? Wabi Sabi is both a philosophy or world view and a design aesthetic. It is a feeling that can be hard to describe unless it’s something you’ve experienced. Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity (roughness or irregularity), simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes.

This week Im showing how light effects piers differently and how the light can tell a story. I imagine this image was taken after a huge storm on a small island and there were no survivors. The light is dull and it creates a bleak feeling of emptiness.
