Educational Insights Magnetic Metric Staircase - You've drawn your last metric staircase! The Magnetic Metric Staircase is a fun, visual way to help students learn to convert measurements. Simply use the magnetic pieces to mark your starting and ending measurements...then "walk" your way up or down the staircase until you reach your conversion measurement. Count the number of steps you took and multiply or divide by 10 for each one. A true time saver! Ages 8-12

Here's a nice help sheet for students on converting among metric units.

### Horse to Fly = Poster/Anchor Chart with Cards for Students

Here's a trick I use for teaching kids to convert measurements: Horse to fly, multiply. Fly to horse, divide, of course. This has really stuck better with the kids than anything I have tried over the years. They can identify big to small multiply and carry it in their head. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Horse-to-Fly-PosterAnchor-Chart-with-Cards-for-Students-1264083
