Horror Stephenking, Books Movies, Books I Ve, Books Books, Favorite Books, Stephen King Books, Stephen Kings
My first Stephen King book. Scared the crap outta me! I like his "horror" stories, not a real fan of the sci-fi.
The Shining, Stephen King. Danny is only five years old, but he is a 'shiner', aglow with psychic voltage. When his father becomes caretaker of an old hotel, his visions grow out of control. Cut off by blizzards, the hotel seems to develop an evil force, and who are the mysterious guests in the supposedly empty hotel?
stephen king books are both terrifying and addicting. one of the Best books i have ever read. Also....the Stand, by King.
The Shining - Stephen King. Mr. King has been terrifying me since I was about 12 years old!

A Clockwork Orange -- Anthony Burgess. Love the book (with the last chapter), hate the movie (because it doesn't include the last chapter).
A Clockwork Orange, Anthony Burgess. I am trudging my way through this book. It is a deep read.
A Clockwork Orange / Anthony Burgess ~ A vicious fifteen-year-old "droog" is the central character of this classic. In a nightmare vision of the future, criminals take over after dark, the story is told by the central character, Alex, who talks in a brutal invented slang that brilliantly renders his and his friends' social pathology. A frightening fable about good and evil, and the meaning of human freedom. When the state undertakes to reform Alex—to "redeem" him—the novel asks, "At what cost?

Hosted by: Bookhounds & I Am A Reader, Not A Writer This is the 3rd Annual Banned Books Week Hop! It runs from September 22nd - September 28th. It is a crying shame how many books are pulled from shelves or off required reading lists in schools due to censorship. Something within the book, even some of the best classics ever to grace the world, are questioned because of sensitive material. Sometimes the world needs to be shocked. Sometimes the only way to learn about the world is to see the blood, guts, and gore of society. I have always been against censorship. Speak your mind, bare your soul, and open your heart in all facets of the media. ESPECIALLY in books. A few of my favorite classic books that have been banned or challenged are: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey Lord of the Flies by William Golding Animal Farm by George Orwell The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien Those are just a few of my favorite banned books. Some other banned classics can be found on the ALA Banned and Challenged Books Site. Giveaway! Now to the giveaway! I am giving away a $5 Amazon giftcard. I am not going to force anyone to purchase a banned or challenged book with the giftcard, it will be YOUR giftcard, but for the same of the giveaway hop, I will suggest you do so. :) Good luck my ladybug literates! a Rafflecopter giveaway Make sure to check out the rest of the blogs on the hop:
You buy furniture. You tell yourself, this is the last sofa I will ever need in my life. Buy the sofa, then for a couple years you're satisfied that no matter what goes wrong, at least you've got your sofa issue handled. Then the right set of dishes. Then the perfect bed. The drapes. The rug. Then you're trapped in your lovely nest, and the things you used to own, now they own you.
This is a great book!!

Amy Tan's "The Joy Luck Club" was listed as a banned book due to a challenge at the Arrowhead High School in Merton (WI) as an elective reading list assignment by a parent because the book contains "sexually explicit and inappropriate material."
The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan is a great read because it offers an inside perspective on different generations and cultures, specifically regarding their struggles and how they affect who that person is today
Interesting book detailing the lives of Chinese mothers and their mostly U.S. born daughters, plus the generational and cultural gaps between them.
Had to read this for an AP English class in high school and fell in love with her writing
Memories of this book revolves around a long waiting list in my highschool library. Finally it was my turn. Needless to say, I couldn't put down the book. The complex (ASIAN!) mother-daughter relationship that is explored in this book stems from a cultural difference between two generations of women and all its misunderstandings. The Chinese Mother vs The Westernized daughter model is explored in such richness & depth, woven by the brilliant storyteller that is Amy Tan. Simply captivating.
