At the Augusta County Courthouse. This bronze plaque depicts "lady liberty" metaphorically comforting the dead with her wings.The inscription reads "In honor of the men and women of Staunton and Augusta County who served their country in the World War, 1914 - 1918."

This unique gravestone stands in the Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville, Virginia. It commemorates the death of Russell Snyder who died on October 8, 1918. He was born in 1892 and was a private, 11 Co CAC, Fort Mott, Salem, NJ.

Staunton's Dick Hamrick dies
This cabinet card photo was taken during Staunton's carnival of 1899. It shows a horse-drawn float from the undertaking firm of Hamrick & Co., bearing the "Queen" and her maid of honor in front of the West Frederick Street business. The man in the dark suit and derby riding on the front of the float is Hamrick's funeral director, Thomas A. Bell. The horses are Harry and Burney. No one else is identified. The brick structure pictured behind the float was torn down in the 20th century and replaced

1908 Main Street Stuarts Draft. At the left is a stone building- Etter Funeral Home. To the right is a private home & next to the RR tracks is McChesney's general store. Across the track, is the C.H. Cohron & Son store. To the right is a private home and a general store operated by F. A. Kerr. The Dodge Hotel is across the street. The white building facing the RR tracks (with a dog on the step) is said to have housed Stuarts Draft's first post office. At the right is J .0. Black's office.
