Imbolc / Candlemas
Imbolc or Imbolg (pronounced i-MOLK or i-MOLG), also called Brighid's Day is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring it is the midpoint of the Solstice and Equinox. Most commonly it is celebrated on 1 or 2 February (or 12 February, according to the Old Calendar). Imbolc derives from the Old Irish i mbolg, meaning "in the belly". This refers to the pregnancy of ewes. Imbolc is the root of modern "Groundhog Day".
