Detective Columbo (Peter Falk): SOCRATIC IRONY is employed when someone says something that conveys a message that contradicts the literal words. Someone attempting to use Socratic irony might sound like the old television detective Columbo who always disparaged his own talents to make the suspect think he was an idiot.

Dime Store. We had Murphys 5& 10 store
Dime Store - Love the wood floors and the shopping baskets---brings back memories! I loved the Ben Franklin store in our neighborhood, where we'd buy paper dolls and penny candy and where, for $5, I could buy Christmas presents for my parents and siblings.
Cater's Dime Store Dublin, GA. One of my favorite childhood memories. 70's
Dime Stores Loved them! I don't think you can compare them to the Dollar stores. I especially enjoyed Christmas shopping in them when I was a kid.

A good old see-saw. Who didn't either fall off or jump off to make the other person slam on the ground...on every old school playground...

Vtg. 70s Retail Shoe Store Salesman's Fitting Stool - the salesman would sit & fit your shoe properly
Stool for fitting shoes.
Retail Shoe Store Salesman's Fitting Stool Used to be that you would point out the shoe you liked and then took a seat. The salesman would measure your foot and then bring you the shoe that he would put on your foot, buckle or tie them and then let you walk around for the fit..and look at them in a mirror. He would then bring you a couple of more styles so you could make your choice. It was a fun ceremony for buying shoes. Most people owned at most two or three pairs at a time.
Back when they helped you with new shoes. I remember the two shoe stores on the Square in Sullivan.

I had babies in the 50's and we didn't have these to my knowledge. We had "teeter babes" which were nothing like this. I also had two babies in the early 70's and they did have infa-seats like this. ??? You decide..

The Match Game, with Gene Rayburn.

If you were born in 1963, that year The Match Game started it's 2nd season on US daytime TV - Gene Rayburn was the host from the start
Gene Rayburn (1917-1999) is SO legendary (how legendary was he?) he will always be remembered for blank! A veteran host, Rayburn hosted the 60s version of "Match Game," sedate compared to later versions. In the 70s, it was looser than oversized underwear on a midget: Questions invited provocative answers.
