Old photos of the #Statue of #Liberty standing in #Paris were extraordinarily surreal In science fiction filmdom, the destruction of the Statue of Liberty is merely a sign that the carnage is chugging along at a steady tack. But reality provides some equally strange views of Lady Liberty, particularly when she was under construction in Paris during the mid-1880s. Here are some curious photographs of this iconic Statue in various states of disarray.

Courage is contagious! When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened! ~Billy Graham In image: "Tank Man" during Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 in China. He later featured in "Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century" n 1998. #Courage #Tankman #TiananmenSquare
The iconic photo of Tank Man, the unknown rebel who stood in front of a column of Chinese tanks in an act of defiance following the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. I remember watching this live on TV, an incredible thing in and of itself, considering the control China held over their media...
TANK MAN ~ A lone man stops a column of tanks near Tiananmen Square, 1989 Beijing, China
Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who stood in front of a column of Chinese Type 59 tanks the morning after the Chinese military forcibly removed protestors from in and around Beijing's Tiananmen Square on June 5, 1989. This picture just speaks a thousand words to me; this man was willing to get run over by tanks to stand up for what he believed in.

Little Girl so sad and heart warming
PHOTO BY Michael Yon for TIME Magazine: A U.S. Army soldier comforts a child fatally wounded by a car bomb blast in Mosul, 225 miles northwest of Baghdad. "Many people say this is the most important photograph of the Iraq war. The image most completely embodies my experience throughout Iraq. Countless people have asked for reprints, but I wanted to give the matter some thought. I did not want to diminish the symbolism of this photograph, and the American soldiers who risked their lives to save this little girl. When these soldiers finally returned to the United States, they asked my permission to present a copy to Bruce Willis at “The Punisher's Ball.” When I saw the photo so tastefully framed, I realized this could make a beautiful gift." www.michaelyon-online.com/
