Herbal Fire Starter Pinecones and dried herbs such as rosemary, sage leaves, and cinnamon sticks make fragrant kindling for a winter fire -- and, unlike composite firelogs and lighter fluid, don't rely on chemicals to ignite the flame. Bundle dried herbs and small pinecones in a sheet of newspaper and secure the ends with raffia or cotton twine. As you pile up logs for your fire, nestle the herb bundle underneath, with paper ends sticking out. To start the fire, light the newspaper ends.

Personalized Coasters - Create stripes with masking tape and initials with vinyl letters. With a stencil brush, apply craft paint; let it dry; then remove tape or letter. Tie together with ribbon, and give with a bottle of booze.

Leaf-Covered Candleholder - Wrap glass candleholders in textured plant leaves (you can use hostas and, for some stripes, calathea), and your meal will have the feel of the tropics, no matter your latitude. With a craft knife, cut a strip from a large, sturdy leaf equal to the height of the glass candleholder. Attach the strip to the glass using double-sided tape. Overlap the strips until the surface is covered. For a nice finish, tie a length of raffia or twine around the candle holder.

Bouquet of Maps - Is there a spot (where you met? where he proposed?) that has a special meaning to you and your fiance? Give a special nod to that place by carrying a handmade arrangement of paper roses crafted with recycled maps.
