Over time, towels build up detergent and fabric softener, leaving them unable to absorb as much water and smelling funky. Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and one cup vinegar, then a second time with hot water and half cup baking soda. This strips the residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again. Works like a charm!

I have been wanting to create a "Morrocan" ambiance on my back (covered) porch - rugs, lanterns, low tables, ottomans - but have been unable to even THINK about lanterns - too pricey. I am now going to eat pasta for a month so I can populate my space with these clever, gorgeous recycled lanterns! Thanks Matsutake for the tutorial on Craft blog!!! :)

How to Clean Pillows. Good to know! I do this every other month, but I also wash my pillows on the hottest setting with a cup of bleach. Always does the trick. This way, you don't have to do the "smell" check! I also like my pillows to smell fresh, so I add fabric softener to the washer and dry with a sheet. Also helps get rid of static in your hair on those dry winter months!
