New Salem Inn prototype

With more and more of the incoming reservations to most hotels (more than half at some of them) being made through online travel agencies, hotel franchises are decreasing in value, and becoming more and more marginalized. So, it's time to think about developing our own brand - and maybe inviting our friends on Pinterest and Quora to help us design it . . . :-) More info http://www.beechmonthotels.com/brands.html#salem

. . . Salem Inns will by no means be an imitation or knockoff of Country Inns and Suites by Carlson, but that's the closest thing that exists out there to a 'comparable' product . . . we're going for a warm-rural-homey theme, one we hope will be so authentic that it'll actually inspire you to visit Old Salem. We're the one place to stay if you're planning to stay several days - our pricing model is set up to encourage that - and the warmth will be an essential element of it . . .

. . . Indeed, an area rug in each room should pay for itself: we should get another year or two out of the carpet before having to replace it. This feature - together with the 'traditional' furniture - nicely supports the 'Old Salem' theme that we want to show up in all of our locations: wall-to-wall carpet or no, whether in the town or a bit out in the country, you'd never see a room in 18th or 19th century Salem without one . . .

Salem Inns will not be an economy brand, but we do want to shoot for really nice, yet simple and affordable, a 'you can pay twenty bucks a night more at a Hampton Inn but, really, why?' kind of hotel. It will depend on economical (though not obviously 'cheap') furnishings - but nice touches. Lots of 'traditional-styled' furniture is out there - especially in any properties we might acquire or convert), but the area rug is a reminder that we're not trying to do it 'cheap' . . .

Here's another unique feature for Salem Inns - an area rug in every room or suite: particularly in that area by the window where you have the open space for a table or chair. For us, it's like bringing back the paper reg card: it's something you don't see any any but the grandest of grand hotels anymore (that's why all the pics are of area rugs in home living room settings) . . .
