I have had poor soil conditions for the last 10 years or so and have added organic material and composted material to improve my soil condition. The mason jar test is a great place to start.
DIY--A compost bin is a necessary companion to My new garden. This one is less eye-pleasing, but doubles the composting with a stacking system. The darker the barrels, the warmer they get, which is what you want with composting.
Spray the plant with Epsom salts (1 teaspoon dissolved in a spray bottle of warm water (about 4 cups). That gives the pepper plant a boost of magnesium that is required at flowering time to produce fruit.
