Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale. This Japanese brand produces a number of excellent beers with some creative ingredients. The Red Rice Ale is probably my favorite, despite its lack of strong hop characteristic. The rice is an interesting touch paired with the general maltiness of the beer. Slightly dry mouthfeel, pretty light. Definitely sessionable.
One of three beers that we served at our wedding, the 1500 American Pale Ale from Drake's (in San Leandro, CA) was our "mid-weight" beer. Crisp and flavorful, the brew ended up being *much* better out of the glass, oddly.
Drake's is probably most known for its excellent IPA.
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout: In my opinion, this is the finest Russian Imperial Stout in the world. Roasted, coffee-ish and pleasantly bitter with a strong semisweet chocolate note from malts that spent a long time in the kiln. Phenomenal!
