Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale. This Japanese brand produces a number of excellent beers with some creative ingredients. The Red Rice Ale is probably my favorite, despite its lack of strong hop characteristic. The rice is an interesting touch paired with the general maltiness of the beer. Slightly dry mouthfeel, pretty light. Definitely sessionable.

Stone Enjoy By IPA - Today's the last day to drink this wonderful IPA (having one now). Brewed to be enjoyed by the date of the Mayan Apocalypse, this beer was spectacular and fresh for an IPA.

One of three beers that we served at our wedding, the 1500 American Pale Ale from Drake's (in San Leandro, CA) was our "mid-weight" beer. Crisp and flavorful, the brew ended up being *much* better out of the glass, oddly. Drake's is probably most known for its excellent IPA.

He'Brew Lenny's Rye IPA (RIPA), tried it last night at Sycamore in SF. It's a strong IPA with the taste of rye whiskey (aged in whiskey barrels). And it is good.

Westvleteren 12: It's served from an unmarked (save for the bottle cap) bottle, delicately poured into a Westvleteren glass. And it's the best beer that I've ever tasted.

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout: In my opinion, this is the finest Russian Imperial Stout in the world. Roasted, coffee-ish and pleasantly bitter with a strong semisweet chocolate note from malts that spent a long time in the kiln. Phenomenal!

John Martin's Pale Ale: English-style pale ale from Belgium. A little hoppier and with a bit more character than Bass.. very well-balanced! My favorite pale ale in the world.
