Money-Saving Tip: DIY Sweater Shaving -works on t-shirts and felt fabric, too - be careful not to cut your clothes with the razor, I made that mistake
DIY fabric shaving - using a new disposable razor. "Warning: sweater shaving is completely addicting"
DIY How to Shave a Sweater: Using Old Sweater with Pills (Fuzzy Cloth Balls), grab NEW Disposable Razor. Lay Cloth on FLAT surface & hold TIGHT with 1 Hand. With Other hand RAZOR over the pills to REMOVE fuzzies in Short, Quick Strokes. Don't Press too hard, you could cut fabric with the razor.
DIY Sweater Shaving Grab an old sweater, t-shirt, or anything with pills (furniture?) and a disposable razor. You want to use a new razor, not a dull one. Lay the cloth on a flat surface and hold it tightly with one hand. With the other hand, razor over the pills to remove the fuzzies. Short, quick strokes worked best for me. Be careful around seams, and don’t press too hard. It is possible to cut your fabric with a razor.

Money-Saving Tip: DIY Sweater Shaving with your disposable razors!
Use a disposable razor to shave sweaters - good tip
As you pull your sweaters out of storage this fall, you may find they aren’t in as good of shape as you remember. It seems like I never like my sweaters as well after they’ve been hiding in a box all summer, magically generating more and more pills. Even expensive and high-quality sweaters can get those fuzzy balls of fibers all over them, but cheaper sweaters are even worse. This year I decided to finally try shaving the pills off my sweaters using a disposable razor. If you follow CVS or Walgreens deals, you know you can often get packs of disposable razors for free or nearly free. You might as well use them to give your sweaters new life! Warning: sweater shaving is completely addicting. DIY how to sweater shaving Grab an old sweater, t-shirt, or anything with pills (furniture?) and a disposable razor. Save the top from a salt container for use with a mason jar.

Save the top off an empty salt box (I have one that's almost there!), trim to fit a mason jar lid and make a refillable container with a convenient pour spout. Love this idea!
Mason Jar with pouring spout. Just cut the top off an empty cardboard salt container, cut it to the size of a canning lid and use the canning ring to screw it in place. Great idea for glitter and craft ideas
convert mason jars into container with a pour spout. cover it with craft paper so it looks cuter. When finished with an empty cardboard salt container, cut the whole round top piece off and measure to fit a canning jar ring. Trace and cut with the flat part with scissors to fit a pint canning jar. Fill the jar with sugar, then cut a second one from a second empty salt container for non-dairy coffee creamer, spices, or flour. The pour spouts make for easy access to your sugar and creamer.
Convert Old Mason Jars CLEVER TIP OF THE DAY: CONVERT AN OLD CANNING JAR INTO A CONTAINER WITH A POUR SPOUT! I buy my yeast in bulk because I make a lot of bread. It is so much cheaper than buying the tiny jars or individual packets. The yeast pictured below is a 1 pound brick and it cost $2 or $3. That is a huge savings. The only bummer about bulk yeast is how to store it easily. Well, listen up, friends, because I have the solution: Tah-dah! A pour top jar! Just chop the top off an empty cardboard salt container, cut it to the size of a canning lid and use the canning ring to screw it in place. Then you can put the whole thing in the back of the fridge and the next time you bake, you can easily pour the yeast into your measuring spoons. Plus, the jar is see-through so you can keep track of how much you have left. This would also be great for storing spices, baking ingredients, or powder laundry detergent bought in bulk. So the only question left is, what are you going to put in your pour-spout jar?

DIY Garden Planter & Birds Bath March 29, 2012 I shared yesterday that I was working on a diy garden project that was for the birds! Our Lowes Creative Ideas Network challenge this month was to create a diy bird feeder or birdbath. After Matt’s failed attempt at creating a bird feeder, I just went ahead and purchased a cute feeder from Lowes. However, I had this fun idea to create a planter and bird bath in one and today I’ll show you how to make your own! diy garden Supplies needed:
