Everyone should definitely strive to be more like Christ. He questioned and rejected the sick, disgusting, evil, savage, barbaric, and ignorant aspects of the faith that he grew up in, things that were clearly imaginary, make believe, and pulled out of asses of religious leaders and authority figures and put into scripture, questioning that all of us should always do. He promoted open with ones thoughts and standing up to family members when one disagrees with them. He pointed out the great evil that comes with the acquisition of wealth and that people who did would not enter heaven. He told people to pay their taxes and didn't tell them to dodge them. He told people to give up their wealth and use it to make the lives of the poor better. He promoted mercy and forgiveness, promoted a softer response to dealing with those charged the crimes, fought against capital punishment, promoted pacifism, and people trading in weapons for things of peace. He surrounded himself with the most hated people in society, including people involved in tax collection, people with sexually transmitted diseases, and people engaged in the sex industry, and he never promoted bigotry against people for being different. He said that prayer should be done in private, spoke out against people praying in public and rubbing their religion in people's faces on every corner, like every corner of the internet, and he very clearly and very directly said that people did would be denied heaven. (Matthew 6:1, Matthew 6:5-7) Yes, we should very very much strive to be more and more like Christ and not just mindlessly say that we love him and promote values that are entirely the opposite of what he taught about how to live in society.
