F is for First Grade: Diagram of a Listener. Another pinner had the idea to do this for one of the first CC presentations. Awesome.
F is for First Grade...diagram of a listener...print on half sheets and put in Reader's Response notebooks I love the idea of showing them how they should be acting with an educational activity. Matching this together would have them read and show them how they need to act and respond to listening.
Diagram of a Listener - good idea to make an anchor chart for good pair work
Diagram of a Listener Could be used for beginning of the year classroom management, or during non-fiction study for example of a diagram. cmc

Book: Parenting from the Inside Out

Parenting From the Inside Out: Daniel Siegel, Mary Hartzell: An excellent read. Learn how your fears and phobias can be passed down to your children via how you don't deal with things and unknowingly dismiss your child's fears. If you can't face your own fears, you'll never be able to help your child face his/hers.
Parenting From the Inside Out [Paperback], (parenting, creative parenting, raising children, parenting books, psychotherapy, parenting book, psychology, self-help, attachment, attachment parenting) Another great book, this is is great for those wanting to become parents, or who are already parenting, as it might save you some costs later in the life of your child.
READ THIS BOOK! I am flying through it. If you are thinking of having children, have children, or work with them I encourage you to read this book. As an adult I can see how it can help and be applied to my life as well. There is so much truth to what the MindUP program supports. Working with two boys as a nanny on a daily basis for the past five years I can see so how so much in this book could be helping them to become happier healthy little people and later adults!!

my creative writing teacher at Carolina. She was writing this and would read passages to us during class.
I picked up this book at a used book shop. It is the story of a mountain family, The Cantrells. It spans about 100 years. A young descendent, Jennifer, goes back to Hoot Owl Hollow, to record an oral history of her family for a college course. It was hard for me to put the book down. I really enjoyed reading it.
Lee Smith has many great Southern novels. My favorites are Oral History, Family Linen, and Saving Grace.
This is another AWESOME book by Lee Smith! Read this in one day and night!
