SINGING TIME: Monster mouths
Scripture Heroes: Noah
Today we talked about Noah from the Old Testament. You can download his Scripture Hero Chart here. We watched the LDS Scripture Hero video about Noah. Then I retold the story using these flannelboard pieces. I also read Jan Brett's Noah's Ark book to them. We acted out the story as I read. They did this maze which is a pretty tricky one, just a heads up. The highlight of the day was playing pin the animal on the ark. They were aiming for the door I drew on the ark. I found some cute clip art…
Stached under the stache
Draw different faces on white paper plates with a permanent marker. Add a brownie for the mustache with a song written underneath it. Call up a child and have them choose a plate. With their hands behind their back, have them pick up the mustache (brownie) with their mouth, revealing the song to sing underneath!!! Yummy... You can also choose a child to come and help lead the song with a mustache! Here and here are the PDF of these, as my husband would say, "AWESOME" mustaches.
From the primary chorister group on Facebook: build a temple all year. Learn a song, add a piece to the temple throughout the year. So cool!
Teaching Primary Music: Love is Spoken Here - Forty Eighteen
Share this so you can find it later:I am the primary song leader at church, teaching music to all of the 3-11-year-old kids. We sing their favorites over and over and over again, and I teach them at least one new song every month. Naturally the older kids are much easier to teach. They can read more

Come Follow Me and I Can Follow Jesus Activity
The Ordinary Adventures of a Primary Chorister: Come Follow Me and I Can Follow Jesus Activity
Review Game: I stopped the song at different times and the kids had to be the first to put their flyswatter on the next word in the song.
The Primary Feud
I know it's not a Singing Time activity but Sister Sharp put together this Primary Feud board and I was so impressed I had to take pictures. She set it up like the old game show from the 1970's (minus the kissing) and had her class do everything. She surveyed ward members and put the answers on the boards, just like they did in the old Feud. It was wonderful. The kids really got the hang of it quickly and I think they liked looking for multiple answers to the questions.
Chorister Ideas
I forgot to post this and it has been sitting in my drafts, I thought of it today and here it is…. One of my favorite music times was when I tied quite a few Hershey candy bars with a string and note. Each note had a clue on it, as to whom it should be delivered to. I talked with the kids about how many different people and responsibilities needed to be filled to have our church run smoothly. I would then call a team of two with a member of the Primary presidency to find the person described…
Love Is In The Air!
SINGING TIME IDEA: LDS Primary Chorister Ideas: Love Is In The Air!
Shirts & Ties
For teaching the Father's day song, I made these shirts by folding a piece of 8.5 x 11 paper and the ties out of construction paper. Click here to find the directions. On the back of each shirt was written a phrase of the song. The shirts were taped on the walls/chairs/piano/podium all around the room. I called on a child to choose a shirt (we went in the order of the rainbow) and read the line of the song. I had the visual aids for the song up on the board, all mixed up. Then another child…
Singing Time and Sunday School
Welcome! I started this blog to share my ideas as a Primary singing time children's chorister but now that I'm a Sunday School teacher, I am also sharing other gospel-related inspiration. It's all about Come Follow Me!
Follow the Prophet Singing Time- NOAH
Today I taught the Noah verse of Follow The Prophet (Children's Songbook #110) We had so much fun & I really enjoyed getting this lesson ready and teaching it to the kids! The ideas came to me late on Saturday night, after a super busy week- and after a beautiful rainstorm! I found this awesome arc print-out HERE, and my kids enjoyed cutting out the pieces and building the arc this morning! Each raindrop has a question written on the back and we either sing to find the answer or for the…
Primary Music Idea - Conversation Hearts
One thing that I LOVE about Valentine's Day are the CONVERSATION HEARTS. Yum! Because of my LOVE for candy hearts I decided that I would create Primary Music Conversation Hearts to be used the week of Valentine's Day. My plan is to talk to our Primary Pianist about playing songs that week about LOVE. While the children are sitting in their chairs I'm going to hand one of them CUPID. The Primary children will pass CUPID around the room until the Pianist stops playing the music. Whom ever is…
Choose and Review - Title Toss
Title Toss makes a fun singing time, however it takes a little work to prepare. But then it can live in the closet and be pulled out when you have extra time or when you've had one of those weeks and need to use something you've already prepared. I believe in being prepared for one of those weeks! Just type the titles of MANY songs into the computer. Adjust the fonts and sizes and then print the titles out. Cut them out and randomly paste them onto a poster board. I say random, but you…
