We used old soda or water bottles, filled it with 2/3 water and 1/3 oil, put a drop of food coloring in and some glitter, put some glue in the lip and screw it tight. I find that toys like this can help calm a child down, their bodies would be still and they would watch the water and oil mix. Although it doesn't work for everyone, lol. A little safer than the glass jar though
