This is a great first day/week activity for getting to know students, and they will love it because it involves candy! They randomly choose an M out of the bag, depending on the color they choose they will answer a question about themselves. If some students do not like chocolate you could use Skittles instead. 0642

Use this at the beginning of the year to get to know your students. Way more fun than a regular worksheet with a list of questions.

You always want to have something special for a students birthday but the cost of purchasing this and that throughout the year can add up quickly. I like this inexpensive, yet thoughtful way to recognize a student's birthday.

Adding Details! We always tell kids to "add details" in their writing. This easy visual helps clarify what we're talking about. A mini-lesson (or two or three) on each strategy will produce results in student writing much more than simply saying, "Add details!" ever will. Love it!
