Trying a new idea to promote kindness in the classroom - Good Idea for next year

Student Shout Outs - Kindness Seeds, this is a cute idea to promote kindness in the classroom
Praise students and let students encourage one another. Great way to build relationships and motivation within the students. With these student shoutouts students are only allowed to say positive things about their peers. This really develops a great sense of community within the students. Everyone deserves to feel safe, supported and encouraged by their peers. This is definitely something I will use in my future classroom!
Cute idea to promote kindness in the classroom. Maybe instead of bucket fillers?!
Classroom management: Student Shout Outs. To promote kindness in the classroom students can write a positive shout out about a classmate and submit anytime. Read aloud on a regular basis (Friday afternoons?).
Student Shout Outs, good classroom idea.
Kindness Seeds: Day 7: Student Shout Outs. Students anonymously write kind words about their classmates and put them in the box. They write the name of the person the the kind words are for, but they don't sign their own name. The teacher writes them on the Shout Out bulletin board.

I used to do this. I called it "Classroom Expectations," though. Sounded better. I also broke it down into three columns: Instructor Expectations (what was expected of me as the instructor), Group Expectations (what we expected from each other as a group) and Self Expectations (what they expected of themselves). Simple and effective for classroom management.
Upper Grades Are Awesome: Day Two - Class Rules and Time Capsules
This past year, I would let the two halves of the class take turns from day to day using the SPECIAL SEATS in the classroom during Daily Five time, but it got to be a REAL PAIN. Since I love clip charts, why not add another to my CLIP CHART KINGDOM, a.k.a. my classroom, and make my life A LITTLE EASIER?!?
Love this! Everyone needs a reading nook and it will prevent fussing over certain favorite spots in the room.

Clip Chart: "Where will I read today," students will rotate weekly!
Everyone needs a reading nook and it will prevent fussing over certain favorite spots in the room. The teacher picks and then kids rotate!
Designate spots in the classroom as reading areas, then students move weekly through various areas. -- actual pic of reading spot to put clips on

Tattle-Taling vs. Informing.

informing vs tattling...a good thing for parents and teachers both to know....
would make a good anchor chart.
I feel like every teacher should have a copy of this on their desk - not for the students, but for them. I couldn't go a week in elementary and middle school without having a teacher get upset with a student (usually female) for "tattling" when the person being tattled on (usually male) was doing something completely inappropriate that needed to be stopped.
Family Volley: Stop the tattling w/ printable
tattling! I use these differences between tattling & reporting in a guidance lesson!
Teaching kids the difference between "Informing" and "Tattling". I used this for my middle child who tattles constantly. We are still working on this with her but this is a good thing to reference when pointing it out to her.

lots of classroom management ideas like the silent sprinkles which is rice and the teacher shakes it over the head of a student to tell them to be quiet. Some really good ideas. -claire s
From: Mrs. Gerlach: Motivational Magic. She bought a $3 sugar container and filled it with white rice and glitter. taped and glued the hole shut (I left the "flap" to the container open so it can make the "noise" to be more realistic!). Whenever my kids are noisy/chatty, I "sprinkle" the silent sprinkles over their heads and then tell them to use the magic silent sprinkle to get self-control.. Works like, well magic :) :) :)
