People I'd like to meet

(Assuming that I could be sure that a) I would be capable of intelligent, coherent conversation and b) they would be interested in having an intelligent, coherent conversation with me! I would rather not meet some of these people than meet them and have it be disappointing...)

People I'd like to meet

  • 10 Pins

Soledad O'Brien, news anchor from CNN. I love her!

Mariella Frostrup. Ideally, I'd like to meet her when she's interviewing me about my first novel for Radio Four. (Delusions of grandeur? Not much, I promise...) Plus, is there a more poetic name in the world than hers?

Rahm Emanuel - Mayor of Chicago, former White House Chief of Staff, and the inspiration for Josh Lyman...

Joe Kennedy III - running for Congress in 2012. Truth be told, I don't want to meet him so much as I want to work for him.

Jon Favreau - Obama's speechwriter. He might have, as one article put it. the coolest job in the world. I can't wait to read his autobiography - and he's also said he'd like to try his hand at fiction.

The Obamas, because they seem fun and friendly and personable, as well as being, well, the Obamas.

Kristin Gore. I haven't read the book she's holding, but I really enjoyed Sammy's Hill and Sammy's House, and I bet she has loads of interesting stories to tell.

Aaron Sorkin: the man who made me want to write. And move to America. And go into politics. (And who doesn't really look anything like this anymore, but I love this picture.)

Top of the list: Bradley Whitford and Janel Moloney. If I could meet them both at the same time, that would make my year.
