Chex muddie buddies 9 cups favorite chex 1 c chocolate chips 1/2 c peanut butter 1/4 c butter 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/2 c powdered sugar melt chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in microwave on high 1 minute; stir. microwave 30 seconds longer or until mixture is smooth. stir in vanilla. pour over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. pour in 2-gallon plastic bag. add powdered sugar. seal and shake until coated. spread on waxed paper to cool. store airtight

Here is a recipe for homemade party mix that is amazing and can be made from all organic ingredients....as noted in the post - its wise to avoid using actual Chex cereal as they use BHT to "preserve freshness" - this is a questionable ingredient at best. Instead you can find organic versions of most of the cereals and if in doubt (or strapped for $) use Crispix instead - corn and rice in one cereal + no BHT!
