Wedding gown, Worth, 1878. Boned bodice with deep center front busk point & basque tails. Undersleeve is ivory satin; upper sleeve is net covered w/pearl appliqués. To create slashed effect, satin bands applied over pearls. Self-fabric strips sewn over bands to simulate knots. Ivory satin cockades at elbows. Plain weave silk backing. Skirt front backed with silk taffeta. Two layers of self fabric used to create bustle. Museum of the City of New York
Evening dress, Worth, 1883. Light blue white floral silk moiré. Bodice has scooped neckline, pleating at shoulders, 3/4 sleeves. Lace trimming at neckline cuffs; additional light blue faille trimming at cuffs. Center front button closure. Skirt has pleated front panel. Large light blue faille bow near bottom hem. Large bustle uses blue white moir on proper left side and blue faille on proper right; bustle extends to become a train. Skirt hem trimmed w/lace pleated blue faille.
