Solid Detroit Agate / Fordite Cabochon Early 1960's Material (suzybones)

Solid Fordite cabochon, aka Detroit Agate. Not an agate, just a happy accident! The original material was created many years ago at the Ford Rouge Plant outside of Detroit, MI. Layers & layers of paint overspray built up on metal racks that transported new car bodies through the paint shop & into the oven where each coat was baked hard, from the black & brown enamel of the late 1940s, to the col-orful lacquers of the 1960s, & the vibrant base coats of the late 1980s
