Garden ideas for small spaces - Terrariums 1 comment Interiors Share It: Emerald green is Pantone's 'Color of the Year'. Green being the most abundant color found in nature has a calming effect. There is a sudden influx of green shaded everything in the market, but I would rather buy something that is more than a fad. When I thought of how to introduce this chic royal shade in my home, I thought of my bare balcony. How I wished I could squeeze in a little garden in my tiny apartment. If you are in a situation like mine - terrariums with succulents are a very easy idea to add 'emerald green'. Terrariums are low maintenance, indoor garden that can be molded according to the amount of space. Terrariums can be open or closed. Closed terrariums don't need to be watered very frequently, they recycle the moisture trapped inside. Here are some lovely ideas for and indoor garden. Some of these are terrariums, some just fantastic garden ideas. I love this little glass enclosed rain-forest complete with dinosaurs. Replace your flower vase with one of these! via www.yellowbrickhouse.com Next time you host a dinner, use terrarium arrangements to dress up the table. The guests will be talking about it for hours! via www.utterlyengaged.com This is a cute closed terrarium in a spice jar. Buy similar ones form MossTerrariums This Vertical Garden is a piece of art. An innovative use of frames! Buy one of these framed vertical gardens for the living room from www.verticalflora.etsy.com I wonder how people even conceive such brilliant ideas. Recycle wine corks by turning them into a tiny succulent garden. These will make a wonderful gift for your green crazy friend! via indulgy.com Make a terrarium at home, watch this video.

Hanging Pictures, Great Idea, Picture Frames, Picture Hanging Tip
The Scrap Shoppe: Picture Frame Hanging Tip, put nail thru clothespin like shown, then hang picture hanger on nail in clothespin, holding picture by clothespin, position on wall where u want and lightly press, nail makes indentation on wall, that's where you put your nail!
Hang picture frame from nail on clothespin then position on wall. GIve the frame a tap and the back of the nail will mark the exact spot to place the nail used to hang the picture permanently!!! GREAT IDEA!!!
A picture hanging tip -- clever idea Instructions on this blog: http://mmscrapshoppe.blogspot.com/2011/07/picture-frame-hanging-tip.html
Picture Frame Hanging Tip: Put nail part way through clothespin; Hang picture on nail; Put picture where you'd like it to go; Tap top of frame to mark wall with nail hole.
Picture Frame Hanging Tip This little tip may just change your life! Okay, maybe I'm being a little overdramatic. Maybe... But you WILL love this picture frame hanging tip! Where I learned this tip: While on maternity leave (which is sadly coming to an end soon), I had HGTV on in the background nearly every day. On one of those days I happened to look up when Get It Sold with Sabrina Soto was on. You know, its the one where Sabrina stages homes for hopes of a quicker sale. Well, she preparing to hang frames on the wall when she whipped out this homemade tool to mark the perfect placement of the frame on the wall!
This makes hanging pictures SO easy! Hammer a small nail in the end of a clothespin (or paint stirrer, anything that is wooden/flat) but leave some room between the head of the nail and the clothespin. Slip the picture frame hook onto the nail and place it against the wall. When you find the perfect spot to hang your picture, simply tap on the top of the clothespin and it will leave a mark in the wall with the tip of the nail. Hang your photo and it's in the perfect spot! Genius. Check out the original blog http://mmscrapshoppe.blogspot.com/2011/07/picture-frame-hanging-tip.html for better step by step guide/photos of this how-to. Good luck!
Picture Frame Hanging Tip from The Scrap Shoppe I always love a good tip. This funny looking clothespin contraption from The Scrap Shoppe is actually a great way to line up the perfect place to hang your photos. You can check it out HERE. Don't have a clothes pin? How about using tape to help hang pictures. If you are hanging more than one photo, butcher paper or wrapping paper can help you plan your layout and line the pictures up perfectly before you start driving nails into the wall. image from Brooklyn Limestone Do you have a tip that works for you?

Summer cookouts are a blast. Planning and executing a summer cookout often is not. There are, however, some great little tips and tricks you can take advantage of to make your life a little bit easier. Rather than slaving away over a garbage can de-husking corn, or stressing out over condiment bottles and topping holders, try these. And see if your summer barbecue goes a bit smoother. Shuck corn in seconds Shucking cobs of corn can be time-consuming. So check out this very brief how-to video from Facebook, on how to make that part of your barbecue much easier than you thought it could be. Then you can cook it using this crazy cooler method, which requires nothing except pouring boiling water into a cooler full of corn, and closing the lid. And (supposedly) you get perfectly cooked corn. Cut that meat! Hot dogs are widely loved and often grilled. This trick may take a few more seconds, but it's worth it, as you'll get a dog that gets cooked crisply in more spots, and fits the bun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyieI2bxyIk And for toppings for all those hot dogs, brats, burgers and more? Go with the muffin tray sorting method (seen at right), Instructables says. But then of course you want those dogs (and any other meat you cook) to be at their absolute tastiest for your guests. To do that, put it under a foil tent for anywhere from five to 10 minutes, FirstWeFeast.com says. That allows it to stay juicier than if you cut and serve the meat immediately. SeriousEast also subscribes to this method. Fruits and veggies Plenty of people like to sneak some greens in, whether it's lettuce on a burger or taco, or part of a small salad. So rather than peeling and chopping around the core of your head of lettuce, try this 3-second de-coring trick from SAVEUR (and let out some aggression while you're at it). http://youtu.be/2ybO41ZJTnM?t=9s Something savory and sweet is always a good idea for a hot summer day, and strawberries are a common choice. If you need a lot, and want to avoid lots of waste, try this trick with a straw to remove the stems. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNrfrcvnGA4 Treats and desserts (aka the good stuff) If you're serving ice cream cones, Lifehacker.com suggests putting one mini marshmallow at the bottom of the cone beforehand so the treat doesn't melt in the heat, becoming a sticky mess you need to clean up later. Another anti-sticky fingers trick, this one from the Penny Pinchin' Mom: Stick a popsicle through a cupcake liner. It'll catch all the sugary drips, keeping your kids' (or your) hands clean. More 'life hacks' The King of Random put together a short video with multiple "life hacks" like these strung together, all of them geared toward summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL78eVVW9_M There are also lists from Buzzfeed (one is 40 items long, the other is 35 items), Distractify, Learnvest – and plenty of other sites.
