Philippines Woodpecker
The Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker (Dendrocopos maculatus), a.k.a. the Philippine Woodpecker (Picidae). Its local name in Kapampangan is Anluage. Formerly the taxon included the Sulu Woodpecker (D. ramsayi), which is now treated as distinct. These two and the Sulawesi Woodpecker (D. temminckii) appear to form a superspecies. It marks the southeastern extent of the large D. moluccensis group, the major radiation of Dendrocopos in eastern Asia. The woodpecker is endemic to the Philippines.
