King Conversion from Antique Double Iron Bed Frame
One of the most rewarding things in my business is when we receive feedback from our clients letting us know how much they appreciate the time and work that we put in to the bed we did for them. Such is the case with this Old Lyme Connecticut client.
One of the more challenging "king conversions" we've done.
The most important this is to try and maintain the original design, even when adding additional materials to enlarge the width. We strive to have the conversion look like we imagine it would, had the manufacturer been making "king" sizes back in the 1800's. King Conversion from Antique Iron Bed
A big Thank You to my client for this photo of a great antique iron bed they got from me and had us convert to king size. The BLack Smyth w/ Gold Guild Castings, was a great choice for the "finish" we did. Beautifully detailed castings deserve highlighting to appreciate how detailed they are. Gold Guild with our acrylic wash gives the gold a three dimensional look.

King Conversion to Antique Iron Double Size

King Conversion from Antique Double
Here is one our recently completed King Conversions. This originated from an antique iron bed frame from the 1800's, that we enlarged by adding additional verticals, elongating curved tubing and then pouring additional castings to blend with the originals.

King Conversion On 1800's Antique Iron & Brass Bed Frame
This beautiful antique iron and brass bed, from the mid-1800's, came to us from the Pittsburgh Pa area. At that time Pittsburgh was the center of steel production in this country. Hundreds of small independently owned foundries, who employed as few as one or two people, set up their businesses in the area to be close to the source of their needed supplies. We at Cathouse Antique Iron Beds converted this beauty to a modern king size and hope we've done our predecessors proud.

Antique Iron Bed Frame Converted to a King Canopy
Here is one of our king/canopy conversions we did for a Beverly Hills client, from one of the antique double size iron beds we deal in. The "black silver wash" finish was a great selection to highlight the bed frame and yet blend with the color in the room.

King Conversion From Antique Iron Bed Double/Full Size
This antique iron bed came to us from upstate New York. The stylized "wreath" and "lions head" corner castings made it one of the more unique and heavy iron beds we've had. We converted it from it's original antique double/full size, to accommodate a modern king size mattress.

King Conversions......Not Matching Twins To Hold Your King Size Mattress
Before we at Cathousebeds.com , started offering king conversions on our antique iron beds, a matching pair of twins pushed together was about the only way to accommodate todays larger mattresses.

King Conversion...........
Its always a challenge to take an elaborately scrolled Victorian antique iron & brass bed, and add to that beautiful design to achieve the additional width for a king conversion. We strive to maintain the original design and only add what we feel the original designer would have done to enlarge the original double size. Here is the double "after " king conversion.

Somebody's getting themselves a nice Valentines Day present. This is a mid-1800's antique iron bed that we converted from it's original double size to a modern king size. Those beautiful "heart" shapes are solid cast iron.
