This photo comes to us from a Malibu Ca., client, of a antique iron bed frame from the late 1800's. It was originally a double/full size, the largest size being made back then. We converted it in to a modern king size by cutting and welding additional tubing to make it wider, and adding additional vertical rods to blend with the original ones and then pouring new castings on the ends of the vertical rods, so it looked originally intended to be there.
This beautiful "king conversion" , of an original old antique double size iron bed will be heading to Houston Texas. A true one-of-a- kind, the beautiful "wreath" castings are as beautifully detailed as any bed we've had the pleasure of working on.
Here is an antique iron bed from the mid-1800's that we converted to a modern king size, from its original double/full size. Many people aren't aware double/full was the largest size being made back in the 1800's. But with some finesse welding and foundry work to duplicate the original castings, we enlarged it for our Boise, Idaho client. It didn't hurt that they did a beautiful job decorating the bedroom around their converted bed frame.
What better way to accent the "buttercup" painted walls than with an antique iron bed that has been left in its original rusted finish. We converted this bed from its original double/full size, to its now modern king size, then touching up the original rusted finish.
This mid-1800's antique iron bed frame came to us from Pittsburgh Pa. We converted it to a modern king size by adding additional vertical rods and pouring new castings in the foundry, to mimic those castings that original. We then did an "antique faux' finish" to enhance its already vintage appeal.
This king conversion we just completed, done in our Dark Verde Gris' finish, is headed to a great client we have in Woodlands TX. They will be the new "caretaker" of this 150 yr old iron bed, originally from the Art Bed Co in Chicago Illinois.
Revisiting one of the more difficult installations we've done over the years. This beautiful king conversion had to be lifted up on top of an attached garage, then carrier across a pitched roof and then wedged through a window that had the casement removed........for a Malibu Colony client.
