Gardens: A Beautiful Ponytail Palm in Full Bloom in the #Garden | Amazing Pictures.
Beautiful old flowering tree.
Grows in full sun to light shade. It is very slow-growing and drought-tolerant. Native to eastern Mexico. The Ponytail Palm Tree Oddly enough, a ponytail palm tree is neither a palm nor a tree. In fact, it is a member of the Agave family and is actually a succulent. Other common names for this plant include bottle palm tree or elephant foot tree. In the past, it has been classified as either Nolina recurvata or Beaucarnea recurvata, but the latter is now the correct classification of this plant.
Ponytail Palm in full bloom. Mine is a small indoor plant. Now I know it's potential if given appropriate needs.
Pony Tail Palm aka “Elephant’s Foot", is a species of plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to the states of Tamaulipas, Veracruz and San Luis Potosí in eastern Mexico.

"Pleaching or plashing was common in gardens from the late Middle Ages until the 18th century. This technique is a kind of weaving of the branches of deciduous trees or shrubs to form a living fence. Sometimes branches woven together grow together, a natural grafting known as inosculation. Sir Walter Scott brought the technique back to popularity in England when he described such a fence in The Fortunes of Nigel."
Trees can also be trained to grow in a diamond pattern, a more rustic version of a traditional trellis fence...live willow

Get those kids into the garden with this project: "Easiest of all the dens to create, fun for kids, great for runner beans throughout the summer season. What you will need 1) Approximately 8 - 10 long bamboo canes (6 - 7 feet minimum). 2) A packet of runner bean seeds. 3) Some gardening string or a cable tie or similar. 4) a roll of chicken wire (optional) 5) space"!!! Bebe'!!! Love this for a children's garden!!!
Backyard living fort for kids (or grown-ups). I think you'd need to make this BIGGER than you think, because with a living structure, you'd have to account for foliage and branches growing into the structure some. I think I'd want a more hidden door too.
