hah. Not really... grains are very important. You have to eliminate empty calories, like refined carbohydrates. Unrefined are perfectly healthy.

What do you base that on? Watch the link Origin and Evolution of the Western Diet. It's completely not true. Grains, especially wheat are not good for you.

This article link discusses the top 3 dietary causes of obesity & diabetes. Diabesity=(Diabetes+Obesity) A donut is the perfect diabesity food. It’s got refined flour (cereal grains), industrial seed oils (plus trans fats for an added bonus), and plenty of high-fructose corn syrup.

Link to article on too much Omega 6 in the diet. Our diets now are heavily Omega 6 dominant.(25:1) Biggest take away: eat less omega 6 or you can eat more omega-3 fat so less omega-6 will be available to the tissues to produce inflammation. Omega-6 is pro-inflammatory, while omega-3 is neutral. Inflamation is the major cause of disease.

How too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 is making us sick

Click the link for an article on why Fish Oil should be your source for Omega-3 and not flax oil. My Dr, Dr. Aukerman, says all the studies with Flax were done with rats. Rats have an extra enzyme that allows them to utilize all the Omega 3 in flax. So it's good for you, if you are a rat.

Very interesting post! I just finished reading a book by Dr. Johanna Budwig that explains how these chains of fatty acids work in our bodies...it's a great read! She also noted when these very long chains are mixed with bioavailable amino acids, they break down the fatty acid chains so that our bodies can absorb them;) Of course, cold pressed and natural;) Her research is very interesting as well! Thanks for sharing! I'm adding this article to my references;)

Oops, meant to add an example. Your Dr is right, fish oil does have shorter chains, so we can aborb better. But if you mix a high quality amino acid (ie organic cottage cheese) with a long chained fatty acid(ie organic, cold pressed flax oil)...the amino breaks down fatty for you;)

The gluten-thyroid connection. This is a more prevelant issue nowadays. Being gluten free has eliminated my need for thyroid medicine.

We used to get Magnesium through our water and the soil for our plants. But with processed water and monoculture, fertilizer heavy plants, this is no longer the case. Magnesium is very important to our health and is unfortunately deficient in the majority of the population.

I have to plug the book written by my doctor at OSU Center for Integrative Medicine. His approach is all based on the Origins and Evolution of the Western Diet.

The book that breaks it all down. Wheat is an unhealthy whole grain. It dominates the modern diet and wreaks havoc on our health.

Dr. William Davis, author of Wheat Belly. His lecture part 2.

Great Lecture! A clear explanation of why the western diet causes massive problems for our health.
