Add lemons, cucumber, and mint to pitcher. Cover with water and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight (the flavor will be stronger if you refrigerate overnight, but I like the lighter flavor, too). Pour in a large glass over some ice…it’s very refreshing! This water tastes best the day or day after you make it. " JILLIAN MICHAELS DETOX WATER You are probably familiar with Jillian Michaels if you’ve ever seen an episode of The Biggest Loser. She also promotes her own line of workout programs and diet books. Here she’s endorsed a particular detox water recipe that uses cranberry juice, lemon juice, and dandelion tea all mixed together with a lot of water. The end result is that it’s also supposed to also help you lose weight. Well consider me your "Mikey" I'll take on all these viral Pinterest crazes and give you my humble honest opinion. So back to the task at hand the Jillian Michael's Detox Water. This one has had a somewhat shady back story apparently it was adopted by an "Anorexic Supporters" group... So if you poke around and read any of the comments you'll see a lot of negativity. I AM NOT Anorexic nor could I ever be or want to be and it is a serious issue and anyone battling this needs to seek help! It is not a healthy lifestyle. I support detox waters as an aide in helping in healthy weight loss. OK Politics aside this actually is a very effective detox water. Here is the recipe... Jillian Michael's Detox Water 60 ounces Purified Water 2 TBS Diet Cranberry Juice 2 TBS Lemon Water 1 Bag Dandelion Tea - Stewed ( I found my tea at Walmart in the beverage isle near the crystal light) This is a replacement of normal water intake and not a meal replacement!! Dandelion tea has a history and reputation for breaking down fat and removing it from your body via good old fashioned waste... So you may have increased bowel movements so be prepared for this. Now for the part you have been waiting for... Does it work?!?? My opinion is it does! I just added the ingredients to my gallon jug of water that I drink daily and chugged away! It does have a somewhat acquired taste. The first day I had to force myself to chug it.. But after a bit I got used to the taste. I see a few others added stevia and splenda to theirs to help sweeten it up. Not sure if I would like that, but wanted to throw it out as an option if you are struggling to get the drink down. LEMON & CAYENNE PEPPER DETOX (Master Cleanse) 60 oz. daily serving): • 60 ounces of filtered water • 12 Tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup • 12 Tablespoons of organic lemon juice (50% limes may be used too) • 1/2 Teaspoon cayenne pepper powder There are a couple important things to remember when preparing the lemonade. For one, the lemon juice used must be fresh squeezed. This cannot be emphasized enough. It is necessary to use fresh produce. Canned juice won't work and will erase most of the benefits of using the master cleanser diet. Also, the maple syrup must be grade B maple syrup, not the sugar filled syrup that is used at the breakfast table. The cayenne pepper might seem unnecessary, but it is actually very important. You should practice no more than 3-4 times per year. Continue or increase exercise daily. Upon completion, ease into eating for 4 days eat only fruits, vegetable, juice, plain basmati rice & smoothies. Then resume normal diet. Benefits: It is great for detoxing, losing weight (.5-1#/day—will stay off with change of diet/exercise), a lot of energy after a couple of days, rejuvenation, and better complexion and tone to skin. The benefits of doing a detox diet are many and include pain relief, chronic ailment alleviation, allergy alleviation, and increased sex drive and potency. To dissolve and get rid of toxins and congestion that have formed inside your body, cleanse the kidneys, colon, and liver, To purify the glands and cells, To eliminate all unusable waste and hardened material in the joints and muscles, To relieve pressure and irritation in the nerves, arteries, and blood vessels, To maintain a healthy blood stream, To reduce acne and maintain a youthful skin. Notes: You may want to use a salt water cleanse/laxative 1-3 days prior to cleanse to make sure you do not become stagnant in the bowels or constipated. [Brush 2 ripe bananas with coconut oil, roll in mixture of 1/4 cup sugar + 2 Tbsp cinnamon, grill for about 6 minutes (flipping half way.) Put strawberries on grill to soak up juice drippings (only for about a minute.)]
