Students could be given a basic layout for a timeline based on the subject being studied, and be required to finish filling it out with the appropriate information and images/media to help enhance the visual aid.

BrainPOP:  The various materials provided on this site would act as a nice supplement to a lesson students are working on. The teacher could find activities on this site related to whatever the students are studying and allow them to reinforce the new concepts through the games and simulations.   Additionally, these tools/activities will help to also promote critical thinking, problem solving and motor skills, and work to improve the students' cognitive abilities as well.
