Irregularly pleated linen collar, Northern Netherlands, c.1615-35 (via). “Early millstone ruffs were starched with regular pleats. This example, however, is looser and less tidy. It is of a type that was popular with young, fashionable men around 1615 to 1635. This is the only surviving pleated ruff in the world.” - Rijkmuseum

16Th Century, 17Th Century, Millston Ruff, Pleated Linens, C 1615 35, Linens Collars, Northern Netherlands, The World, Irregular Pleated
This collar is made of fine batiste or cambric. It was introduced to the Northern Netherlands by the Flemish refugees who arrived in the late 16th century. Because of its shape, this kind of collar was known as a millstone ruff. Early millstone ruffs were starched with regular pleats. This example, however, is looser and less tidy. It is of a type that was popular with young, fashionable men around 1615 to 1635. This is the only surviving pleated ruff in the world.

If I were to ever dress up for Ren Faire (not bloody likely!) this would be the dress I'd wear.
1775--American: Round Gown - The round gown was a simple style, similar to a Robe a l'Anglaise, with the exception that the skirt and petticoat are as one - it is not an open robe. Popular in the 1770s through the end of the 18th century, the round gown featured a front-closing bodice with no stomacher, and a drop-front skirt.

whattheywore: Sometime in the 18th century some lucky girl wore this. Gorgeous color! Looks like a round gown, though I can’t tell for sure. But I’d bet on it - you can’t see a line of separate skirts.
This was worn in the 1700 's Ali B

Afternoon Dress Charles Fredrick Worth, 1875; from Pinterest I have learned that had I lived in the late 19th century (and been wealthy) I would have wanted to wear Worth.
Afternoon Dress, Charles Frederick Worth (French (born England), Bourne 1825–1895 Paris) for the House of Worth (French, 1858–1956): ca. 1875, French, silk, trim. "Around 1874, the style altered and the skirts began to hug the thighs in the front while the bustle at the back was reduced to a natural flow from the waist to the train. This period was marked by darker colors, asymmetrical drapery, oversize accessories and elongated forms created by full-length coats."
