golden water

Extraordinary glass blown sculptures by artist Shayna Leib. Each piece in her Wind and Water series takes nearly a month to create. She generates over 1 mile of thin glass pieces from which she cuts into tens of thousands of segments organized by shape and length. Next begins the process of building the actual sculpture, requiring 45 minutes for each two square inch area. I did glass blowing one time and it was one of the hardest things I ever did when it came to glass...this seems impossible

The Glasswork of Shayna Leib

Glass Art, Heatherwick Studio (established by Thomas Heatherwick), Bleigiessen, Wellcome Trust, London "The Wellcome Trust commissioned the studio to design a sculpture for its new headquarters. The site for the sculpture was within an 8 story atrium above a pool of water...using 142,000 glass spheres suspended on 27,000 high tensile steel wires; 15 tons of glass and just under a million metres of wire" (narrative from website), Steve Speller, Photographer
