In the developed world, we live mostly unaware of the devastation human activity has on our planet. Our streets are swept clean and are trash is hauled away to places we'll never see. But the impact of our consumption is inching ever closer to our own backyards. With time, we will see quite clearly, the carnage of our reckless and senseless consumption. Here's a glimpse into what's really going on.

The devastation of the Alberta tar Sands. While it's easy to point fingers at the big oil companies, we must remember that the demand for oil comes from us. Oil is not just used for automotive fuel, it's in cloths and pantyhose, safety glasses and golf balls, sun glasses and toilet seats, house paint and guitar strings, roofing and detergents, and the list goes on and on. We can however, push for greater accountability with oil companies with respect to environmental degradation.
