The 1946 U.S. Forest Service safety flyer “What To Do When Lost In The Woods,” originally made for hikers and campers, contains quite a few kernels of wisdom that might be heeded by those who have lost their way in a more figurative or creative sense as well.

The U.S. Forest Service’s 1946 safety flyer “What To Do When Lost In The Woods” unintentionally offers general words of wisdom for times of trouble: “Don’t yell, don’t run, don’t worry, and above all, don’t quit.”

Recent photo of a little boy visiting the White House. He wanted to feel Barack Obama’s hair because he wanted to know if the President’s hair felt just like his. President Obama obliged. ~ Priceless.
"I came across this photo of U.S. President Barack Obama yesterday. Apparently a black boy was invited to the White House and asked Obama if he could touch his hair to see if it was like his." I adore this photo!

Starting on Tuesday 15th May, I will attempt to run 27 marathons in 27 days, as a small tribute to Nelson Mandela and 27 years he spent in prison. The marathons will be run all over South Africa in areas that resonate with his life including: Soweto, Pretoria, Cape Town and Robben Island where he was imprisoned for 18 years. As the marathons are run, we will film a documentary about Nelson Mandela's life and I will talk to people who know him and who struggled with him - Eddie Izzard

"Higglety Pigglety Pop or There Must Be More To Life" As a tribute to his dearly departed pooch, Maurice Sendak wrote this odd little tale in 1967 about Jennie, a Sealyham terrier who is not content with having everything but must go out in the world to find something she doesn't have.

Higglety Pigglety Pop or There Must Be More To Life by Maurice Sendak. I haven't read this one yet but my neighbor told me this morning that it's his favorite. I think because he has the same kind of dog!
Higglety Pigglety Pop!: Or There Must Be More to Life by Maurice Sendak - love, love, LOVE! Read this odd little chapter book aloud to Baby this week and he was captivated. In it, Jenny, a dog who has everything, leaves home to find what she may be missing. On her way toward fame, Jenny encounters a milkman, a pig, a baby and a hungry lion. Slightly dark and delightful in the extreme!
