The Aleppo Codex By Matti Friedman Scribe $27.95. This account of the Jews' Word of God, a one-off definitive book that goes missing in the late 1940s, is by turns documentary and thriller, with its readable amalgam of history, myth and mayhem. Friedman takes the reader on a rollicking, often desperate, tour around the globe and through time from Abraham and the Crusades to the present. Rivetting.
