This Fabergé tiara has been erroneously known as the Empress Josephine Tiara, but as it was made by Fabergé’s workmaster August Holmström i 1890 and the Empress died in 1814, it was certainly never hers! The tiara was inherited by Queen Maria José (1906-2001) the last Queen of Italy, from her brother Prince Charles Theodore (1903-83), the second son of King Albert I of Belgium.
